The Cathedral Church of St. Paul has a long tradition of excellence in music.
Generations of boys and girls from all over the Detroit metropolitan area have had their musical formation in the Cathedral Choirs.
The Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys was founded in 1884, and thus it enjoys one of the longest unbroken traditions of any such choir in the United States.
The Cathedral Choir of Women and Girls has been in existence since the 1920s.
Over the years, the choirs have sung with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, local musicians, and artists from around the world. Additionally, the choirs sing in other venues in and around the Metro Detroit area. The choirs build community by combining with other church choirs in the area for special services and concerts.
In addition to their Sunday morning activities, the choirs sing for various traditional events at the Cathedral.
Choral Evensong - an afternoon service of music and prayers
Advent Procession - a service of music and words in preparation for Christmas
Nine Lessons and Carols - the beloved service, traditionally at Christmastide
