The word 'advent' is Latin for 'a coming or arrival'. Advent is a season of preparation for the coming of Jesus. The four weeks before the birth of Our Savior are meant to be a time of reflection and mediation on his imminent arrival and how great God's love is for us. However, in this era of busy schedules and preparations for Christmas parties and buying of presents, many of us do not find the time to mediate on God's great gift to us. It is hoped you will take half an hour each day during Advent and reflect on what Jesus' birth means to you.
